Canon 17-40 Repair

When I was shooting the Untouchables x Late Activities event, my friend dropped this lens. One of the petals on the mounting plate dented in, preventing me from attaching the lens to my camera. I ordered the part from Canon and repaired it myself. If this has happened to you, hopefully this tutorial will aid you in repairing it yourself.

First, the three black screws that hold in the gel filter holder need to be taken out.

Next, you need to pop out the black circle piece thats in the metal. It pops out easily, don't worry.

It should now look like this.

Unscrew the screws on the side (shown here). Be very careful detaching the lens mount. The ribbon will rip if not handled very delicately.

At this point it should look like this. Now you put the new lens mount on, and do all these steps backwards. Finally put the lens back on your camera and pray that everything works, in my case, it did.

WETAP Tips and Tricks

I'm starting this blog to help out other people. A lot of people ask me what type of camera to buy, what lens to get, how to improve their photography, blah blah blah. I'm going to start posting photography tips, lens and camera reviews and tutorials, and all sorts of other stuff. I'll probably do a few skate trick tips, maybe some skate shoe reviews, who knows? Just keep checking out this blog, I'm sure you will find something interesting in it all the time.
